Eurasian Nuthatch on a Lichen-Covered Branch

A Eurasian nuthatch perched on a lichen-covered branch in soft woodland light. The close view captures the bird’s alert posture alongside the fine textures of bark, lichen and plumage.

At Hofsnäs in Tranemo Municipality, this Eurasian nuthatch was, for once, sitting normally on a branch. The afternoon was overcast, with soft light in the woodland. What I like most about the photograph is the clean separation between the bird and the background, together with the fine detail retained in its feathers.
