Among the Alder Catkins

A Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) perches among the hanging catkins and small woody cones of an alder tree. Its blue, yellow and green plumage catches the sunlight against a softly blurred background of warm earth tones and blue sky.

While my son skated on the lake Åsunden at Hofsnäs in Tranemo Municipality, I used the time to photograph a few birds, including this Eurasian blue tit among the alder catkins. The February afternoon was clear and below freezing, and the little blue tit gave me a subject of my own while he was out on the ice. Cute hardly covers it.
