A Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) perches on a slender reed stem, surrounded by tall green vegetation. Its vibrant blue and yellow plumage stands out against the soft, layered background of reeds and warm natural tones.

I photographed this Eurasian blue tit at Hofsnäs on a mainly clear June afternoon. I would certainly have preferred the foreground stem not to be in the way, but it also tells an honest part of the encounter: the little bird was sitting well inside the reeds. The frame retains some of the dense vegetation that surrounded it.
