Veka Rapids on the Ätran River — Flowing Water & Rocky Shoreline | NFE Slow TV #8
A slow nature film recorded at Veka Rapids on the Ätran River, just outside Hillared in Västra Götaland, Sweden.

The camera sits low beside the rocky riverbank, around 50 metres downstream from the remains of the former dam and power installation at Veka. The old structures are out of frame, but the flowing water that once powered the site remains an important part of the landscape.

Water moves steadily across the shallow, rocky riverbed while changing light passes over the surface, trees, and reeds along the banks. The soundscape is dominated by the continuous flow of the Ätran, with the smaller movements and distant sounds of the surrounding landscape appearing naturally around it.

Veka also carries traces of local industrial history. A small hydroelectric installation once operated here, and remains of the former dam structure can still be found upstream from the recording position.

Recorded entirely on location with authentic field sound, no music, no talking, and no synthetic ambience.

Nordic Forest Echoes documents real places and natural soundscapes from Sweden through field recording, photography, and slow nature films. No stock footage, no AI-generated ambience, and no synthetic nature loops.

This recording captures authentic river ambience from the Ätran at Veka — flowing water, stone, wind, and the natural sounds of the surrounding landscape. No music, no talking, and no artificial sound design.

Location: Veka Rapids, Ätran River, near Hillared, Västra Götaland, Sweden
