Goldcrest in Flight

I like this photograph. On an overcast winter day at Hofsnäs in Tranemo Municipality, Västra Götaland, I photographed a goldcrest in flight among the conifer branches. If I am honest, I think this may have been the first time I had ever seen one. At about nine centimetres long and weighing only five to six grams, the goldcrest is Europe’s smallest bird.
