A Macro Walk at Hofsnäs, with Time for Fika
A photo walk at Hofsnäs with my aunt, a fully manual macro lens and several questionable equipment decisions. Three small stories, with time for fika.
The past week has been less about producing one big new project and more about giving Nordic Forest Echoes a little more room to grow.
I've spent quite a bit of time working on the website — refining how the photography, films and field recordings are presented, cleaning up older material and gradually turning the site into more of an archive of places, sounds and moments from the Swedish landscape.
A few photographs from an earlier trip to Dalarna have also recently made their way into the Photo Archive. They were taken during a summer visit in August 2024, but had never been published on Nordic Forest Echoes before.
The images include a forest stream photographed at dawn, a canoe resting by Lake Rensjön after an evening fishing trip, and late evening mist drifting across Trängslet Reservoir.
I've also been revisiting other parts of the site, including the Video Archive, Audio Archive and some of the general presentation of Nordic Forest Echoes. None of these changes are particularly dramatic on their own, but together they make the project feel considerably more coherent.
Another small addition this week is a new Nordic Forest Echoes Patreon page.
Most finished photography, field recordings and films will continue to be publicly available as before. Patreon is intended more as a place for the things that happen in between — field notes, photographs, recording snippets, works in progress, equipment experiments and occasional updates from behind the scenes.
There won't be a fixed publishing schedule. Updates will follow the project itself. When I've been out recording, photographing, filming or experimenting with something new, there will usually be something worth sharing.
Nordic Forest Echoes is slowly becoming what I originally hoped it could be: a growing archive of real places, sounds and moments from the Swedish landscape.
And there is still plenty left to explore.

Nordic Forest Echoes has been quiet this week, while most of my time has gone into launching HardHQ, cleaning up GitHub projects and setting up the infrastructure around it.
